Solved: Fresh install 8.1.2 will not connect to network
#1
Since August 2021 I have simply been enjoying the music using version 7.0.1.   Thanks again to Tim Curtis

I attempted a live upgrade to 8.1.2 which only partially worked (hangs as soon as I enter setup).  Not too concerned about that I downloaded the latest version and did a new install to a different 8GB SD card using my Linux laptop and command line DD. With the new SD the Pi appeared to boot but will not connect to my network via LAN wired connection so cannot do setup.

Thinking something may have gone wrong in the flash process I did a new download and install - same problem.
I repeated that process but used a better 16GB SDHC card - same problem

I then downloaded and flashed the two SD cards using a Windows 10 laptop and Rufus - same problem

I realized that my Raspberry is an old Pi2 so maybe that is the problem. If so I am prepared to change it but do not have another Pi available.
Unfortunately I broke the 7.0.1 system and had to reformat that SD card so cannot de-bug the original issue.

And now the sacrilege, Just to check my Pi I installed runeaudio (based on Arch linux) and all works fine.

So question is should 8.1.2 run on Pi2?
If it ain't broke fix it until it is.

Glad to say that now all is working. Big Grin

Not a Moode problem at all.

For some inexplicable reason the router DCHP would not grant any new addresses but would allow access to existing clients.
Restarted DCHP service and All OK
Sorry to have troubled you.

Now to find out what new goodies I have in the upgrade
Thanks again
