WiFi on RaspberryPi 2b
#1
Hi, I use MoodeAudio 8.3.9 32bit on RaspberryPi 2b 1GB. Everything works as it should.
Now I am forced to move the Raspberry to another room and connect via WiFi. I used USB WiFi.
Bus 001 Device 006: ID 0bda:f179 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL8188FTV 802.11b/g/n 1T1R 2.4G WLAN Adapter
I can't get it to work, in another distribution it works without problems. I can't enable UP here, permission problem.
3: wlan0: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 qdisc noop state DOWN group default qlen 1000
    link/ether 00:e0:4c:81:88:02 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff

So what is the procedure  Huh

Or how to install Moode Audio on another distribution ? Maybe DietPi ?

Thank You David.

Hi, David.

Three points:

1.This isn't a moOde issue, per se; it's a Raspberry Pi OS issue. All moOde does is call on the Raspberry Pi OS WiFi subsystem. If your WiFi adapter isn't working with your moOde 8.3.9, it's likely because the underlying 32bit Bullseye edition of Raspberry Pi iOS Lite and its specific kernel don't have the requisite driver.

2. WiFi adapters based on Realtek rtl8188<something> (where there are many variations of the <something>) chipsets have been notoriously problematic with Raspberry Pis for as long as I've been reading the Raspberry Pi Forum. I suggest you ask on that Forum for help, naming the Pi model and 32bit Bullseye Raspberry Pi OS Lite. Or, get an adapter which is known to work out of the box. If uncertain, see what official Raspberry Pi distributors offer on their sites.

3. No, we don't provide instructions for building moOde on some other OS. (Historical fact: DietPi, specifically, was explored as an alternative some years ago but it turned out to be a nonstarter---despite inputs from both sides there was too big a clash of technical styles.)

Regards,
Kent
