Problem: 1st time Moode user needs help
#1
I have used Volumio previously with no problems. Because I prefer open source software, I installed moodeaudio 6.1 on my RPii3/Allo Boss DAC. I can't play anything yet because I get the following error message when I try to do so:

Failed to open "ALSA default" (also)
Failed to open ALSA device "hw0.0"
No such file or directory

I anyone can help, I would very much appreciate it.

Thanks

My solution for the same error was to try again with a different SD card.

@dukeincleve I take it you've gone through the initial setup guide, rebooted where prompted etc?

Do you mean for Moode or the music? I actually have a thumb drive for my music.

Also, even the built-in test files caused the same error message.

The following log entries indicate some breakage in your config or the presence of another connected audio device thats acquired card 0.

Code:
20190829 140314 worker: ALSA volume set to (Invalid card number.)
20190829 140323 worker: ALSA volume level (Invalid card number.)

Normally they would be like below.
Code:
20190901 150536 worker: ALSA volume set to (0%)
20190901 150541 worker: ALSA volume level (60%)

Try the command "aplay -l". It should produce output identical to below for a Boss DAC.
Code:
pi@rp2:~ $ aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: BossDAC [BossDAC], device 0: Boss DAC HiFi [Master] pcm512x-hifi-0 []
 Subdevices: 1/1
 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
