front-end very slow to load
#1
Hello,

New to MOode, by the past I was using Volumio and decided to switch to MOode after readying all great feedbacks of this simple but very efficient Pi DAC player.

When not using Moode for few hours or over night the web interface is very very slow and almost impossible to access it using my phone.
Via my computer it seems to work a bit better but still very slow to show up.

I've copy and pasted here my dmsg log and would need your expertise to help me fixing what needs to be fixed
 • Conf is RPi 3 with HifiBerry Dac Pro + and one eHD connected in USB.
 • The external hard drive has its own supply and the Pi is getting the power from an Apple iPad USB Power Supply
 • connected to the network via Ethernet.

I can see few things strange
 1. Under-voltage detected!
 2. rpi_firmware_get_throttled
 3. brcmf_update_bss_info: wl dtim_assoc failed (-52)
 4. brcmf_cfg80211_set_power_mgmt: power save enabled
 5. brcmf_fw_alloc_request: using brcm/brcmfmac43430-sdio for chip BCM43430/1
 6. brcmf_c_process_clm_blob: no clm_blob available (err=-2), device may have limited channels available
 7. brcmf_c_preinit_dcmds: Firmware: BCM43430/1 wl0: Oct 22 2019 01:59:28 version 7.45.98.94 (r723000 CY) FWID 01-3b33decd
 8. ASoC: failed to init link HiFiBerry DAC+: -517
 9. module is from the staging directory, the quality is unknown, you have been warned.
 10. Linux video capture interface: v2.00

Your input for the above output are more than welcome.
Thanks

Thank you both for your feedback and yes. It looks like this is due to the HifiBerry Dac Pro.
I'm in the process to replace the HifiBerry DAC with an AUDIOPHONICS DAC I-Sabre ES9038Q2M.

Which power supply would you recommend to me for a hifi setup?

Thank you!

I would go for the Allo Nirvana, which Audiophonics sell. Allo also do a cheaper supply.
If you want a linear supply you will find those at Audiophonics too, including the Allo Shanti if you have more money to spend.

I have the following, I am more of a IEM listener than a hi-fi setup listener, so I listen through my other headphone setup, but when I feel like listening through speakers, which is every couple of weeks or so, it's always enjoyable.  I have never had problems with it not being responsive when I have gone to use it.  Note I am in the UK, hence the 220v so pick the PSU depending on where you live.

Hi Superparati,
Could you put, here, your thoughts on your new DAC compared to the Hifiberry?
Is the difference grandiose, little improvement or cannot ear any difference? Compare both with your new supply if you can.
I know it's easy to say that the new one is better because you pay a lot more for it and it's hard to be disappointed, but try to be impartial Big Grin
Thanks

Before you condemn the HiFiBerry DAC, give it a decent power supply then see if you like the sound. A decent power supply is every bit as important as the DAC.
Would you condemn a petrol car's performance because you filled it with diesel?

Dear All,

first, the Under-voltage issue seems to be fixed. I've switched for a PI4 and I can't see this issue anymore on the log.

Secondly which power supply would you recommend for the HiFiberry HAT DAC? I can't decide myself as I see so many option and would prefer to follow one of your guidance. thank you @jonners ! for you suggestions
the website audiophonics does not ship anymore in the UK for now Sad bad timing.

@Alaini93, as soon as I've my new DAC I'll share my feedback. I went for a dedicated DAC X-Saber PRO which is far from a PI DIY solution. Let's see Smile

Thanks

@superparati

If you cannot wait for Audiophonics to re-start shipping to the UK you can purchase a 5v iFi iPower from Amazon UK / scan.co.uk / futureshop.co.uk/etc. If you aim to an even better power supply you can choose the iFi iPower X (at double the price of a standard iPower)
