I still think having this discussion in its own thread makes good sense (hint, I question the necessity now that upmpdcli explicitly offers an OpenHome Renderer endpoint) but here we go. This is the content of the LICENCE.txt file which is included in their zip file. I couldn't find it on their bubbleguuum github repos which seem only to be their forks of other peoples' repos.

Thank you very much for all the insights. I better understand now. I've been using DLNA technologies for more that 7 years, and there are always new things to discover. This makes it quite difficult, because of various implementations, without speaking of some applications that are not working as expected.
