Solved: No audio for Spotify with USB DAC
#21
I've also experienced a situation where a moOde player with a USB DAC was updated to 7.2.1 using the in-player check/update process but, though I thought I had been thorough and forced MPD to save the USB DAC (which is alsa card 2) as output device again, the Spotify renderer was opening card 0 instead. Whence I also experienced "Spotify acts like it is playing, but I cannot hear anything."

I don't recall if repeating the MPD config or reboot or both cleared up the problem, but it's now opening the correct alsa card and playing Spotify tracks streamed from my iPad.

Kent

I just upgrade to 7.2.1 and same issue , no audio from my Spotify. I dont know much about programming, I have updated the software a few times and this are the first time , spotify audio does not come up. I can play the radio just fine. What should I do? Or how do I revert back to 7.1 that is working flawlessly.

Same here, no Spotify audio on my 2 Moode  players on 7.2.1, connected to 2 different USB DACs.

What is the solution that was implemented?  Do I still need to tweak something?

I reformat the SD Card and re install Moode 7.2.1 all over fresh again, and guess what, I can play Spotify again. Not sure where the bugs is but now it can play.

Post the output from the commands below and I'll have a look.

Code:
cat /etc/alsa/conf.d/_deviceout.conf

moodeutl -l

See below the output from one of of the 2 Pi's, connected to an FX-Audio DAC-X6 (the other Pi is running Volumio since yesterday, which always looks  promising, until you start using it....)

Look like MPD Config not saved. See #4 in the update instructions. This is shown when clicking the VIEW button before INSTALL the update.

Code:
This package upgrades release 7.2.0 to 7.2.1 and includes important updates and bug fixes. Install time is around 1 MINUTE depending on network and system speed. Be sure to BACKUP your system before applying this update.

1) Monitor progress with the SSH command: moodeutl -t
2) Reboot after the completion message appears.
3) The file /var/local/www/update-VER.log contains a log of the update.
4) After reboot open MPD Config and SAVE to update the settings.

Aha a case of RTFM!

Same shit happened here. Spotify was not working in v7.2.0 and same situation after upgrade.
After fresh installation Moode Audio is visible as speaker for Spotify.
After re-routing Spotify music from tablet to moode audio - no sound but RPI is busy and shoving Spotify
When Spotify is disconnected moode is working as usual
Moode Audio is NOT visible as speaker for Spotify anymore.

Yeah, there is a volume control in the Spotify app, but it starts at max and adjusting it doesn't do anything for me. The "Initial volume" in moode's Spotify config is set to 100%.

I enabled debug logging and see this in the moode.log. Does anything look amiss?

Code:
20210511 203409 startSpotify(): (librespot --name "Moode Spotify" --bitrate 320 --initial-volume 100 --volume-ctrl fixed --cache /var/local/www/spotify_cache --disable-audio-cache --backend alsa --device "_audioout" --onevent /var/local/www/commandw/spotevent.sh > /dev/null 2>&1 &)
