Official moOde 7.4.y support thread

It is probably as you write. Well, normally when I fix the UPNP resource I see individual directories, and when indexing begins, it actually follows the albums and always leaves the index in the same place. I need to see if there is a problem here. I have a huge data library and this may be the problem. When I dropped the 6.x moodeaudio version in favor of 7.4, I didn't add or subtract anything from the DLNA library.
Until now, the main music directory was set as a mount point, and there are subdirectories there. But I also used this method of mounting in version 6.x moodeaudio.

Probably not related to 7.4 itself, but on playback view, when u refresh and click on the context playback menu, there is an entry: "Add Favorite" who appear, it is duplicated with the little heart. Entry disapear if u go library and came back to playback view.

It's a bug. I've added it to the TODO list for 7.5.0.

Yes, UPnP media servers can generate a ton of synthetic folders such as Artist and Genre which in turn create multiple paths to the same track files, but that doesn't seem to be the basic problem here, cf. post #5 and post #10.

I have done tests with moOde and several different UPnP media servers and can always find my way through the media server clutter to tracks I want to play. This whether I accept the highest level endpoint or drill down to the Folders endpoint in the Create Music Source screen. The choice of endpoint can definitely affect the amount of time it takes to update the MPD library, however.

I've never run into a "Transport endpoint is not connected" error. However, my Internet search engine turns up items such as https://stackoverflow.com/questions/2496...-connected

The only issue I notice with the UPnP Media Browser is that album/track artwork isn't showing up in the Library Tag and Album views although it does in the Playback view when I'm playing a track. Maybe this is just me not paying close enough attention to what I'm doing.

Kent

In my futzing around with UPnP in moOde 7.4.0 I noticed what seems to be a bug in the Audio Conf screen.

The "Restart UPnP browser" button points to "snd-config.php#rebuild-dlnadb"

Shouldn't that be "snd-config.php#upnp_browser_restart" or such.

Kent

Good catch. I'll add to the TODO list to fix.

Fair enough Kent, I was in full hypothesis mode with not the time to test anything.  I might have a play again with mounting my MinimServer library into moOde just to learn more how it behaves.  Like you, I don't use this function in anger.

I have 2 Pi based streamers, both running MoOde 7.4.0 and I have an issue with Spotify connect: I can initially connect to it, plays ok, but if I pause or change volume the connection drops and reverts to local/controlling device (usually my iPhone), on both MoOde streamers.
First I suspected my phone but I tried my wife's and it does the exact same thing.
Then I tried the same switching the stream between my phone and my laptop. It works flawlessly.
So I guess this points to some issue with the 7.4.0 version... or the librespot library? Anybody knows anything about this?

I've seen this and other similar articles before. However, UPNP itself seems to work, because when I go to the / mnt / upnp directory, I can see the contents of my DLNA. The problem appears after some time when we have indexing running and the content of the DLNA library is created in moode audio.

After reporting this bug, the mnt / upnp link is no longer visible
but the indexed content in moodeaudio remains and it's interesting that you can play it directly from DLNA.

If you're interesting in seeing how much detritus is involved you could try a test with just a couple of albums on a USBstick added to a media server.

Compare the directory tree on the USBstick (under /media if using a second moOde player as the media server) with the directory tree under /mnt/UPNP on the test moOde player. Have a look at the MPD file system /var/lib/mpd/music/<name>.

Here's that part of the MPD directory structure in my test case. I named the UPNP mount "top" 'cuz I mounted the top endpoint offered from the media server (a moOde player). The USBstick contains just two albums.

Code:
pi@Rpi4b2:/var/lib/mpd/music/top $ tree -d

640 directories
pi@Rpi4b2:/var/lib/mpd/music/top $

640 directories, many of which were generated by minimserver!

BTW the indispensible tree utility is available via apt-get. It has tons of useful options. I asked it to list only directories. If run with no options it would have also diagrammed the 10 .mp3 track files and 5 .flac track files repeatedly in different directories.

Have fun.

Kent
