Aoide DAC II
#1
Hi,

Is it possible to include the Aoide DAC II Pi HAT drivers in the upcoming Moode builds?
This DAC needs specific drivers in order to work properly, using generic I2S drivers will cause bad distortions (see Amir´s review on AudioScienceReviews).

I was using custom versions of Moode, specifically build by the manufacturer U-Geek for this DAC: https://sourceforge.net/projects/u-geek/files/HIFI/
However, interest seems lost and the manufacturer does not provide any recent Moode builds..

It would be nice to see this DAC included by default in Moode  Smile .
The drivers (and install script) are located here: https://github.com/howardqiao/aoide-dac-drivers

Many thanks!

Best regards,
Martijn

Not possible unless the manufacturer gets their driver accepted into Linux kernel. In that case it will just show up in the DT overlay list in Audio Config.
Enjoy the Music!

Bummer.. I doubt that will ever happen, it seems like there is a licensing issue..  Confused

(Licensing matter or not) it looks like you'll benefit from replacing the AOIDE HAT with any of the HATs from the usual 'stables': ALLO, IQaudio, HiFiberry, etc.
Amir (of Audio Science Review) has published a documented review of this HAT back in 2019... and the conclusion was not a flattering one:
