Solved: Airplay -> no sound
#1
I've been really enjoying listening to moOde the past few weeks. Yesterday I tried turning on the Airplay renderer and tried to send sound from two different Apple devices (a recent iMac running Big Sur, an up-to-date iPad running the latest iOS). In both cases, Moode Airplay shows up as a selectable device to cast sound to. In both cases, choosing the Moode Airplay renderer seems to work fine from the point of view of the Apple device; it all looks good from Apple land. But in both cases no sound comes out of my system.

I'm running the latest version of moOde on a pi 3B+ connected via USB to a topping D10S dac. I tried rebooting the pi with the same result afterward.

I'm comfortable on the command line. If anyone can point me in the right direction to track down why I'm getting no output from the Airplay renderer, I'd be grateful.

@pjv14

Curious. Quick test here works

IPad -> (Airplay) -> moOde 7.6.1 -> USB/BT adapter -> (Bluetooth) -> headphones

Nothing jumps out at me from your log…but I haven’t had my second cup of coffee yet.

Have you advanced the volume on the source device (iPad, MC)?

Kent

Try setting the bit depth to 32-bit in Airplay Config.
Enjoy the Music!

Acchhh!
Sorry about this: I am completely wrong. I am getting output from the Airplay renderer. The problem was that even with the source volume slider maxed, the level was so low compared to other sources feeding moOde (streaming radio, FLACs on SMB share) that I couldn't hear it at all until I bumped the volume on my amp to significantly higher levels than I would normally turn it to.
I will mark this as solved and apologize for the noise, but also a followup question for others who use Airplay: do you also experience this source to be at a significantly lower volume level from other sources you play through moOde?
