Two Questions

(02-21-2022, 11:28 PM)Tim Curtis Wrote: I did notice the "eth0 wait" entries in the log you posted. Normally those will not appear because residential Routers typically hand out IP addresss instantly.

You should post your IP address assignments instead of xxxxx in case something is not right. They are all going to be private LAN addresses anyway like 192.168.1.1 that are inaccessible from the Public internet.

Code:
20220218 192214 worker: -- Network
20220218 192214 worker: IP address check timeout (90 secs)

Thanks Tim, those are there because when I restart MoOde I typically unplug the ethernet cable. If I leave it plugged in on restart I often cannot connect to moOde. If I unplug the ethernet cable until after the system boots, then plugin, it connects everytime.. I haven't been able to pin that down either because it is also transient. I have moOde with a DHCP address reservation of 192.168.1.140 on my local network, Netgear Nighthawk router. Not sure if that's the issue or not.

Here is the network info:

Code:
20220221 195431 worker: IP addr (192.168.1.140)
20220221 195431 worker: Netmask (255.255.255.0)
20220221 195431 worker: Gateway (192.168.1.1)
20220221 195431 worker: Pri DNS (1.0.0.1)
20220221 195431 worker: Domain  (1.1.1.1)

That said, I came home from work, attempted playback of a 24/96 file on the connected USB drive, hesitated and stuttered horribly. Turned on a single 16/44.1 rip, let it play. Went back to the same file on the USB drive and it played without a single hiccup..

PM'ing you guys the .flac file that didn't want to play, then did.

Here are the logs:

mpd:
Code:
Feb 21 19:32 : player: played "USB/DC14-485D/Lonesome Dreams/01 Ends of the Earth.flac"
Feb 21 19:35 : player: played "NAS/Manjaro/Music/Beck/Modern Guilt/01 - Orphans.flac"

Couple of odd log entries

This is a strange DNS address. Normally a residential Router would assign its LAN address as the DNS address since it acts as a DNS proxy. In your case I would have expected DNS address to be 192.168.1.1, same as Gateway address.
Code:
20220221 195431 worker: Pri DNS (1.0.0.1)

What is the output from the command below?
Code:
cat /etc/resolv.conf

This error typically indicates some sort of OS corruption or hardware issue.
Code:
Feb 21 19:32:13 moode kernel: [ 5669.570013] bcm2835-i2s 3f203000.i2s: I2S SYNC error!

If you end up trying a fresh 761 image on a known good uSD Card I'd suggest using automatic DHCP address instead of a configured DHCP reservation to rule out some sort of address conflict.

Ugh, that I2S error looks nasty.

The DNS server IP address, not so much. Both 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 are free DNS servers maintained by CloudFlare, akin to Google's 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. In my case, my Comcast router points my DHCP hosts to the Comcast DNS servers 75.75.75.75 and 75.75.76.76.

See my PM regarding the FLAC file. In a nutshell, it looks/sounds good here.

Kent

Ok, hopefully the Router knows whats a LAN address and can avoid going out to public DNS first only to get a NAK when trying to resolve a LAN address. I'm used to Router OS that proxies DNS.

Yes  and seems like something seen before on Pi Zero where an I2S hat is 'pressed' on but not soldered.... as the Pi board changes with heat, vibration, etc one or some of the connections detach.

Time to check and re-seat the HAT  ;-)

Thanks guys, I'll try to pickup a new sdcard and do a fresh install. If that doesn't work I'll reseat the Digione.

I'll report back.

That's a subject for the nsswitch/winbind post I promised.

Fresh micro SD card, fresh install, same outcome. If I play just a minute of a 16/44.1 file it remedies the hesitation on 24/96 files.

Digione has to be interrogated next. I'll see if I can switch to USB output (not sure if MoOde allows this with a I2S device installed) and see if I get the same result.

Hey guys, didn't know if you'd be open to revisiting an issue I have had recurrently on moOde.

1) Whenever I restart moOde from the UI, it never reconnects to the router via ethernet. I have to manually pull power, unplug the ethernet, plug in power, wait a minute, then replug the ethernet cable into the Rpi. Then it connects. I've confirmed in the Netgear admin page that it is indeed missing from the "wired devices" .

Is this a problem on moOde's side or how I have the router configured. FWIW all my ethernet devices have -0- issues like this.

Very odd.

What version of moOde?
