After 30 minute Library update...library is empty!
#1
Disastrous day today....thought I was getting there....now back to square 1!! Sad

Have configured (green ticked) audio source.
It's a USB SSD drive.
After updating library....Folder view shows NAS and USB entries.....but both are empty.
Then....NAS and USB entries disappear....(don't persist in the folder view)

Have now spent hours on this....most likely something trivial that I'm overlooking....I hope.

Any thoughts please??

Removed the SSD....and experimented with a small USB stock with only 3 Albums.
Selected MOODE/ESD-USB from scan list.....and all worked well.
Replaced the SSD......Selected MOODE/NAS.....no luck.
For the heck of it....tried MOODE/ESD-USB too.....but now get a red cross....so no good.

Should I be offered MOODE/USB in the scan list???

If you just intend to plug the SSD disc to the PI as a music source, you do not need to add any NAS device or SMB share whatsoever.
Just plug the disk, and do a library update.
If you still see nothing, post the moode log by running the command below from an ssh shell.

moodeutl -l

Cheers, Al.

Feeling sick now!!....if you just plug the disk in....without describing it as a source....it isn't picked up in a scan....surely!!?
I'll post the log thing later!!
Thanks!!

In the Setup guide, review #4.
https://github.com/moode-player/moode/bl.../setup.txt

The "Library, Create music source" screen is only used when the disk containing music files is on some other computer in the network.

As @Nutul mentioned, when plugging a USB disk into the Pi thats running moOde simply do "Menu, Update library".
Enjoy the Music!

Update library....results in 3 seconds of the whirring 'update in progress' icon....then stops.
Library is still empty!!
(I've now switched Samba off)
I'm missing something key here!!!

So, now it's time you post the log.
Also, please post the following command's output.

If you found that a usb flash drive worked but the SSD does not then the most likely cause is that your Pi cannot supply enough current to the ssd and once the resource/power intensive update happens the SSDdrops out.

This of course assumes your SSD is USB powered from the Pi.
Try a powered USB hub between the Pi and SSD

Right....I tried placing the SSD in it's own powered 'caddy'....same 3 seconds of update activity...then stops!
Good thought though!
Should the blue USB 3.0 port on the Pi4 have enough power for an SSD???
Along with the Argon40 case, I also bought a dedicated SSD holder that attaches via USB.
I also have the Argon PSU.....that appeared to be more powerful than the RPi version.
