Hi,
I face a strange issue with the volume type setting in audio output setting page : I selected the audiophonics ES9028/9038 I2S device in the list (I purchased my DAC a few days ago), but I can only use the "software" volume : with this choice I can then change the volume with moOde, whereas if I choose "hardware", the volume value displayed is fixed, and indeed I can't modify the output volume with moOde.
(Note: I don't have any knob connected for volume adjustment).
I'm surprised by this behavior, as I thought that I could change volume in a hardware manner (with the adequate chip on the DAC). I had also tested Volumio (but I really prefer moOde, without any doubt), in which I could change volume from Volumio with hardware type selected. So maybe there's something to do in order to have the same possibility with moOde ?
That's for sure not a big issue as I will probably not hear a big difference, but I would like to be sure to select the best volume type to preserve quality sound.

Reboot and post the contents of the startup log either using the command moodeutl -l or it can be downloaded from the Logs section of System Config.

I don't see anything suspicious in the log regarding the DAC configuration. I have one of the Audiophonics 9038 boards and ran a quick test yesterday and no issues whatsoever with Hardware volume.
What I do see in the log is that you have both Ethernet and WiFi interfaces active. It's best to have only one active network interface.

He's on 32bit... could it be some driver incompatibility? Or fix that was tested only for 64bit? Only thinking loud, FWIW.

For network interfaces : I can test with only one interface (preferably Ethernet), and check. I will keep you informed.
For 32bits : I confirm that I "had to stay in 32bit" : I tried twice to use moOde 64bit with my pi (3B 1.2 1GB) and the audiophonics ES9038Q2M I2S DAC, and did not manage to make it work appropriately. I supposed it could be a non-compatibility with the DAC (I read for example in the ES9038Q2M Sabre datasheet the feature "64-bit accumulator and 32-bit processor", which made me think maybe it had to work with a 32bit version of moOde ; maybe it's an error). I can retry installing the 64-bit version of moOde with the DAC and post a start log, if you think it can be useful.

The I2S drivers work same regardless of whether the 32-bit or 64-bit image is used, or which particular Pi is being used.

Any idea why there is "audio debug" at the beginning (maybe normal) ? and I read also MPD volume level (69) restored, but no idea if it's related to my issue.
2 - with moOde 64bits: again, impossible to make moOde and the DAC work properly, even though the raspberry pi is a 3B 1.2. I can't set the driver to audiophonics ES9028/9038, neither select the i-sabre-q2m: the "SET" buttons for these parameters don't work, and when I want to go to system settings (among others to download a start log), impossible to enter in these system settings. The system does not work normally at all when I install the 64bits version of moOde with my hardware Pi 3B 1.2 + DAC audiophonics I-Sabre ES9038Q2M, and I'm unable to state if it's normal.
I bought the DAC a few days ago, could it be related to a hardware problem ? at this stage, I don't understand :
- why hardware volume setting seems to work with Volumio and not moOde,
- why the system does not want to work with a 64bits version of moOde,
- and why, nevertheless, it seems to work properly with moOde 32bits (except volume type which has to be defined to "software", to work properly).
