Hello!
Just made a fresh install, this time with that ready_to_use image.
DLNA server now worked without problems. Really sorry for the noise ....just donated 10 bucks, have a drink and forgive me.

Frankly (no pun intended and all that!) I'm relieved. I was having a hard time coming up with a rationale for the failure to scan.
And you solved the problem in time to cue up all those holiday favorites!
