Thanks for the super-quick reply. I found the required configuration setting (I missed it before) - seems to be working now.  I was looking under Audio settings, but found what I needed under MPD. Clearly I need to peruse the documentation some more.

Now I'll have to figure out how to get my local favorite NPR station added (WBEZ Chicago) .. guess a matter of finding the appropriate stream URL.

Ah, Chicago. My late wife and I lived in Hyde Park for a decade, both of our two sons were born there, and my grandson has been working on improv and film making at Second City. Have a listen to "https://stream.wbez.org/wbez64-web.aac" and see it suits.

Hi Kent, thanks for the message and the link. I managed to find an mp3 stream that's working - I don't know of a good place to find these, it's always hit and miss after a lot of Googling.

Crazy weather in Chicago these days, earlier this seek we had a tornado touch-down just SW of the city - nothing like waking up to sirens at 11:30 PM, and this afternoon the sirens went off downtown for a tornado warning (the whole area was under a watch until 7PM today).

Do you have a tip/best way to get podcasts added? Right now I'm sharing my iTunes folder over the network, but that requires me to refresh the podcasts manually both in iTunes on my PC and then in moodaudio on the Pi. I just remembered I have a free Spotify account - never really used - going to see if I can add that to moodeaudio since I remember reading about that. Just curious if this would be the best way to do this.

Sorry, I don't have any experience with managing podcasts. 

A premium Spotify account is required in order to use the Spotify renderer in moOde. If you have only a free account an alternative would be to use a Spotify app or Spotify Web Player on a phone, tablet, or computer, and direct the output to moOde via Airplay or Bluetooth.

Interestingly,"Mr. Tornado," Ted Fujita, who created the Fujita scale (F1, F2, etc) for rating tornado intensity, worked within walking distance of the research institute I was in at the University of Chicago. He got frustrated that tornadoes were so hard to find and study in the wild, so he invented a tornado simulator in his laboratory. Very cool idea. 

I don't remember any tornadoes within the city limits in our time there, but out to the southwest at Argonne National Laboratory, where I last worked before we left the Chicago area, there were three different alarms in each building---fire, tornado, and radiation (and a special phone extension you could dial to hear each one). I had just started at ANL in 1976 when an F4 tornado struck the Lemont-Argonne area (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aapzSaLW...l=vortexva).

Hi,

I am also new to moOde.  I successfully used this discussion to initially set up my headphone jack for output and it was working ... for a while.  Now there is no output from the 3.5mm and the only option available at Configure -> Audio Configure -> MPD Config -> Output Device is "Nothing Selected".

The log entry below shows that not even the integrated HDMI and Headphone audio devices on the Pi can be detected. This suggests something external to moOde software for example a bad or corrupted SDCard or some sort of hardware or power supply issue.

Try a fresh image on a different SDCard and without any USB devices or other peripherals connected to the Pi. If this fails then prolly some sort of hardware issue. No issues on my end with 3B+
