Detailed DAC parameters selection
#1
Hi!
I want to use my DIY DAC built with SM5813 and PCM58P with moode and I stuck in DAC type selection.
There are very much DAC models in list and in overlays, which is excellent, but in my case I tried dozens of combinations and nothing works.
SM5813 digital filter require right-justified data format and it will be excellent if in DAC selection to have possibility (something as "advanced mode") to select instead of model or overlay direct DAC parameters, for example data format (I2S, left-justified, right-justified), data length (16, 24, 32 bits), etc.

Best regards.

That’s a big ask, essentially a built-in driver/overlay builder. Seems pretty niche to me but Tim’s pulled some neat tricks out of his hat before Smile

I’m curious. Have you played any tracks through your DAC and, if so, how?

Regards,
Kent

Typically right/left justify is set in some hardware register on the chip.
AFAIK none of the i2s DAC drivers expose an option that would allow setting i2s justify mode in software.

The parameters exposed by the i2s drivers included in RaspiOS are listed in the file below.

Code:
/boot/overlays/README
