I'm sure enough to have never been able to access Moode by an Android smartphone without writing the full IP address. It has NEVER worked with moode.local.

A few hours ago I tried again here with on my Pi5 with Moode 9.0.2 connected via Ethernet to the Router. My actual phone is a Google Pixel 8 Pro. But was the same with the previous 7 Pro and a couple of Xiaomi. Same result. Always.

I know mDNS works on recent Pixels. I know mDNS is working on moOde.

Your experience suggests to me several possibilities.

1) the hostname of the moOde player isn't "moode". For example, I have 5 moOde players up at the moment for various testing reasons. None has the hostname "moode". Instead, they have names like "m902pi4b" so I can tell which version of moOde and which model Pi. Their mDNS names, obviously, are like "m902pi4b.local" instead of "moode.local".

2. The LAN is misconfigured. There's too many possibilities here for me to speculate but the bottom line is that the multicast messages aren't getting from phone to moOde player and v.v. .

I have an app called "Bonjour browser" which I download from the official Google Play Store onto my Android phones. It can scan the network my phone is connected to and show me all the hosts responding to mDNS queries. At the moment, it shows the 5 moOde players I mentioned above plus my Brother Laser Printer which also supports mDNS.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Kent

The Host/player name can be changed. I always use "moode". And it's active and working properly as it can be accessed with that name from a Windows PC.

To do that on the browser you can both write:

moode/
or
moode.local

No chance at all on Android (I use the stock Chrome browser on the Pixel 8 Pro).

Here at home I use DHCP and everything seems to be fine about the network. Also with the BubbleUPnP app on the 8 Pro for Qobuz.

Could other users share their experience on this matter?

Thanks!

In your previous post the static IP address you set was missing the Gateway and Primary DNS address, and the netmask did not seem to be correct. You have to specify the correct values for these items otherwise there be will have all sorts of network issues.
