Idea: Raspberry Pi Touch Display 2 release
#1
I was playing around with the idea to make a moOde box, with attached display to control play back. Happy I did not do it yet as there's a new RPi compatible display released.

Still doubting on building a case myself or implementing it in one of the available enclosures. If anyone has a nice aesthetic suggestion then please let me know!

Is there an “available enclosure” for the new screen? It appears from the comparison in one of the comments that the mounting hole layout is somewhat different from the original.

Kent

I'm not sure to be honest, I thought I read somewhere that the new display fits currently available cases. However, I've not investigated thoroughly yet...

hi there,

is there a way to display moodeaudio on this screen?
It's dark, only moode on extra monitor.

I'm not a programmer.

Happy listening!

Have you used a DSI screen on a PI before ?
I assume you have checked the basics like making sure the ribbon cable is the right way up and is full inserted into the connector at both ends ?
Same for the power connector from the pi to the screen ?
I don't have this new official screen but I have used several DSI screens on Pi 2, 3 and 5 and most of my problems have been with the ribbon cable

Today I installed:
2024-10-26-moode-r914-arm64-lite.img

and the "Raspberrypi Touch Display 2" is alive!
In portrait mode, so I did this:

" To set the screen orientation on a device that lacks a desktop environment:
edit the /boot/firmware/cmdline.txt configuration file to pass an orientation to the system.
Add:

video=DSI-1:1280x720@60,rotate=90
"
But this has no effect.

Happy Listening!

When you edited cmdline.txt did you add the new command to the existing line of settings, not as a new line in the file ?
I assume your screen is plugged into the connector marked "CAM / DISP 1" not "CAM / DISP 0"

I usually do my screen setup commands in config.txt and I thought cmdline.txt changes only affected the text display during boot so I'm probably not much help
