Thanks to our host for making this forum available. Over the years I have been DIYing things like amplifiers, preamps, even a turntable and arm, forums where specific info can be shared have been a lifesaver. Always a pleasure to share what I know and find out what I don't.

As of right now I am planning a Raspberry Pi music server and a friend has enthusiastically recommended Moode and the Pi as a the centerpiece of this project. I have some parts on the way and I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions to ask.

I have a rudimentary understanding of Linux and networking and digital audio, and I have successfully set up a server for digital audio that links some network and USB hard drives and a Behringer USB interface as a DAC to listen through my living room system. It's based on a small laptop computer that wasn't getting much use, and it's currently running Daphile to control the audio service. I'm hoping to reclaim the laptop and up the the convenience factor - Daphile has been a bit of a struggle to get set up and doing what I want it to, and I'm hoping to get things to a stable state with less messing around and more listening using Moode.

I have a reasonably large digital collection of miscellaneous FLACs etc. that I've compiled over the years and I'm now patiently fixing tags and organizing dupes that have piled up over several years.

Happy to be here.

The single most rewarding thing you can do in preparation. A well organised and tagged collection makes everything thereafter so much nicer.
