Pi Zero Headless

Do I need to do these things to be able to SSH into my Pi Zero via USB?

It's working properly with AP mode, but does not show up as a networking device when I plug it into the USB on my Mac.

Just thinking for situations where I need a "hardwire" connection without fussing around with a Networking dongle...

I assume it's not set up to do that by default with MoOde.

I tried those steps and it looks those steps in the link are what needs to be done to make it work.
