[PROBLEM] File Sharing between miltiple Moode RPi Players

I want to run TWO Moode Players in separate rooms on the same LAN and would like to share the Music Library between the two Raspberry Pi Moode players. The configuration of the two players is as below:

1. Raspberry Pi 3B  with Moode on a 16GB MicroSD Card; HifiBerry Dac + Hat connected on WiFi 192.168.1.115 Hostname Moode; Music Library on 64GB USB Sticks x2
   
2. Raspberry Pi 3B  with Moode on a 16GB MicroSD Card; HifiBerry Dac + Hat connected on WiFi 192.168.1.116 Hostname Moode1; Small library on the system SDCard. 
   

Please could someone give me explicit instructions on how to set up the Library Config/ Music Sources / Create panel to access the Music Library stores on the other Moode Player.

I should add that I am not really Linux savvy but fairly competent with the Raspberry Pi and the Moode User interface.

This should prolly be in the Support Forum but in any case try the following.

1. In the Music Source config screen click SCAN
2. The USB drives from the other Pi should be listed
3. Select a drive
4. Specify userid Guest and no password
5. Give it whatever Name (alias) you wish

Hi Tim, I'm falling at the first hurdle! Clicking SCAN doesn't display any available drives.

Do I need to configure the drives as "Shared"?  or is there anything that I need to configure in my Router?

You don't need to do anything in moOde. It automatically shares out NAS, USB drives, Playlists and SDCard.

The symptom "SCAN doesn't display any available drives" means that your network / Router is prolly blocking the protocol (multicast DNS or mDNS) that is used for discovering things like Samba shares. In this case you can click EDIT path and enter HOST/SHARE_NAME or IP_ADDRESS_OF_PI/SHARE_NAME.

No... SCAN returns nothing.

I manually Edited the path to "192.168.1.116/USB" and got "NAS Mount Error - Click to view Log" which I have clipped below. Does it reveal anything?:

I entered 192.168.1.116/Robin FLAC in the manual entry field and saved it and it has magically appeared and has Indexed the NAS Drive.

The mistake I had made was to assume that the USB Drive was called "USB" ... it should be the USB Drive Name. I did say that I was a complete noob with Linux but I got the clue by searching the Network for available shares on my Android Phone.

I haven't a clue as to why my network (Router Switch) is blocking the Search function. - Robin

Yes, the drop-down box shows nothing.

I did some further testing: ... I turned the Router Firewall OFF to check whether it was blocking access but it made no difference.

I suspect that BT  (It is a BT Hub 6 that I am using) have blocked SMB1.0 at around the same time as Microsoft switched it off by default in Windows 10. I will do some digging to see if that is true. I have enabled SMB1.0 support on my Windows PCs and that allows me to share drives with my Android devices,

Strangely, My Android Phone could (can) see all of the MoOde drives!

I don't know whether this thread on the BT Home Hub 6 is relevant but it relates to problems connecting to LAN Drives after SMB1.0 support was dropped in 2019.

If it is within your LAN, the hub will have no knowledge of let alone block anything that is passing. Bear in mind SMB1 is disabled by default on W10 machines.

Thank you for your response. Yes, I know that SMB1.0 is disabled by default in Windows 10 but I have enabled both Client and Server on my Windows 10 PCs on the LAN.

This observation is of Raspberry Pi devices on the Wireless LAN which cannot see one another on a search. They are on consecutive addresses on the network so I am at a loss to understand why they cannot see one another.
