Good Morning from Austria
#1
After years of convenient streaming I recently found my passion again in listening to a “long player” or an album on my stereo.

Being always on the DIY side I recently finished my Pass B1 buffer as a preamp and am now in the process of building a nice streamer based on a raspi and the protodac and some Ian Canada parts
Deck is from pro-ject and my main speakers are active transmission lines (Newtronics Temperance)

I’m currently trying to get lossless out of Apple Music in a convenient way:
Apple Music -> AirPort Express -> optical/i2s -> protodac

That would be great for two reasons:
- AM with its suggestions and playlists and now also the classical app plays an important part in my music discovery process

- it has lots of HiRes releases e.g. Keith Jarrett on ECM as one example

So, we’ll see where that goes. Now I need to order a good quality optical/i2s interface and then find a way to validate the airports output

Cheers
Martin

Here's a thread to get you going on various aspects of Apple Music streaming.

Since moOde already includes an Airplay 2 receiver your playback chain can be as below.

Apple Music -> protodac

You can select either Airplay 1 or Airplay 2 protocol for the receiver in moOde.
