Problem: Pi Zero 2W 2ith 7" Touch Display
#1
Hi all,

A am trying to use moodeaudio as a Web / Radioplayer with my Teufel 25 active Speakers. As a platform at first I got a pi zero together with the pi-zero-7a touch display (where the pi is directly plugged in with its HDMI and two USB ports). There I got everything up and running with the 8.3.6 Image - except the GUI on the display: only message is a dialog telling me that chromium does not work on the pi zero anymore. Web access was working.

After that I swapped the pi for a zero 2W and started using the latest 9.1.5. image.

But there I only get a dialog telling me that chromium should not be used on devices <1GB ram (which you can close, nevertheless), but I never get the GUI.

config.txt got the parameters for the display, no improvement.

I don't know whether my plan is a bit overly ambitious with the Pi zero and a display but Volimio seems to work like this.

Does anybody run a similar setup or is a zero to small for the Display?

One major difference between Moode and other softwares is that each of our releases is based on the latest PiOS, kernel and packages at the time of release, and our in-place updates provide kernel upgrades and upgrades to specific packages including chromium.

In this the paced Pi ecosystem, falling behind can put a project in the position of never being able to ever catch up and thus ending up in "Abandon Valley".
Enjoy the Music!

Hi Tim,

I understand, even thou this means that the Pi Zeros are not usable for touch screens anymore.

But shouldn't there be an older image which works? Does anybody have an experience there and can suggest me a version which is just old enough?

Edit: ok, it seems like the Zero is just not capable enough for the use of Chromium, 512 MB just dont work anymore...

I will stay with Volumio for the time being and as soon as I coma across a nice Pi&Screen combo I will have a closer look at Moode again.

Many thanks!
