Solved: A question about library view configuration
#1
Just installed Moode. Seems to work well so far but I have a question about configuration.

The library tag view has three columns, which seems to me a good idea. I've worked out how to change the tags displayed in the columns using pull-downs but I would like to know if there are any hidden configurations (or even non-hidden ones I haven't found) so I can change the tags available on the pull downs relevant to the columns.

Specifically, I would like to have the possibility to order the columns with genre in column 1, composer in column 2, album in column 3. That would work better for me with the way I have my music tagged. Currently, I only have the possibility to show composer in column 1, which is usable but gives me more results than I'd like to have.

It can't be configured in the way you are describing but you might be able to make use of Saved Searches to provide the Genre selection.

In other words switch to Composers for column 1 and then create Saved searches for each genre. This might give you a way to do Genre > Composer > Album. The Artists column would still appear but it sounds like this isn't relevant for the way your collection is tagged.

Is it a Classical Music collection?

"It can't be configured in the way you are describing"
That's OK. Thanks for the reply!

"...create Saved searches for each genre"
I'll definitely try this. I have the files saved in directories... music/classical/composer/work so I can always fall back on that.

"Is it a Classical Music collection?"
Not wholly, about 50%. There are quite a lot of other files with composer tagged - music theatre, Great American Song Book, Christmas related music etc, so I get all those in the list if I start with the composer tag. Not a huge problem but I would prefer to lose them from the list if I could.
The columns work well for me with Rock/Pop/Jazz etc, tracks.

Just not to leave this hanging.
The suggestion to use the search facility was a good one. Works great.
Thanks for Moode, thanks for the help.
