That did it, it's working. Something must have gotten corrupted the first time.

I'm glad too that a simple re-flash solved your issue.

I hadn't read the setup.txt instructions carefully for some time. Looking at them now, I can see how they could be confusing, since moOde as shipped is configured with Audio config/I2S audio device: "None" and MPD config/Device type: "On-board audio device". Hence, there is no need to do anything to the I2S setting when configuring a fresh system for a USB DAC. That's what caught my eye when I read your original post.

But the bottom line is your first flash wasn't successful so everything else is moot.
