[SOLVED] WAV file can’t be played and is indexed incorrectly

I have in my library a WAV-file that Moode can index correctly nor play. The file plays fine in other apps.

With other clients I can’t find the track at all. Very weird!

From the moOde command line, navigate to the directory containing the file.

Post the output from the "file" and the "mediainfo" commands.

This mediainfo output shows no tag. The output from the file command might have helped tell us where the tag shown by Apple Music is hidding.

There is more than one way to tag a WAV file. MPD (and a number of other music applications) doesn't support them all.

Indeed, and iTunes/Music has always been a shitshow in this regard. It will write metadata to the files if it feels like it, otherwise it just put it in its own database. Let me try rewriting the metadata with Picard and see what happens.

NB: As an Apple (l)user I don’t feel I have much choice in managing my library other than using what Apple offers. Alas.

Yup. iTunes/Music’s fault. Added tags using the MacOS app ‘Meta’ and rescanned the library. Now indexes and plays correctly.

So the moral of the story is that Apple is all-in on their streaming service, and us with local files are gradually being left unattended to, with bugs galore. Anyone got an alternative to Music?
