Sleep Timer Fade-out

TLDR; It would be nice if the sleep timer would fade-out the music over x seconds instead of abruptly stopping

Hi, 

I use the sleep timer function of the clock radio a lot to keep music playing in the background at night and have it turn off automatically at, say, 11 pm. However, it then stops the abruptly which can be irritating when I am already in bed or have people over. 

It would be nice if the sleep timer would fade-out the music over x seconds instead of abruptly stopping!
There could be an input form for number of seconds, where 0 would be the current behavior. 
The same would also be nice for the clock radio to start the music. I think this would improve this feature a lot!   

I would also love to try to implement this myself and push a PR! 
A small hint where to start digging would be nice, might just be a couple of one-liners I guess.
