Hi there!
I have a Pi with HiFiberry DAC+ Pro in the living room with a SMSL-50 class-D amp that drives a pair of SB-36 (ADW). The single change i did with the biggest impact on quality was to change from a wall wart power supply to an audiophonics LPSU-2, imho absolutely vital for my "good" setup.
Furthermore, I have a second Pi with a HiFiberry Dac+ (non-Pro) in the bedroom which uses a cheap and tiny random amp to drive two Yamaha NS-G30 MKII (which i got from a friend's grandma
).
In the past i have used an arch linux arm image with a mpd. later i switched to volumio and now i'm trying out moode. For now I like very much that i dont have to pay to use bluetooth as a source and that moode boots far quicker. Also the web interface feel far more intuitive.
Thanks to everyone for the work invested, be it coding, helping, discussing or whatever else
