Fresh install hangs on HifiBerry board selection
#1
After the microsd card for my audio streaming raspberry pi 4 died, I performed a fresh flash of moode 8.3.3 on a new microsd card. After selecting my Hifiberry Dac+ Pro board in the I2S dropdown list in configuration, the system seems stuck in an endless loop from which there is no escape. I have since flashed 8.2.9 and am up and running again. I saw some references to Hifiberry boards in the changelog of 8.3.1, maybe something happened there? I am obviously out of the woods for now, but perhaps something to look into.

You may completely ignore my answer, if case tells, but... have you correctly followed the instructions to create a brand new SD card - that is: create a user / password, etc etc BEFORE flashing it, with the Raspberry Pi Flasher tool?

+1

I have no problem firing up 8.3.3 with a HiFiBerry Dac+ Pro.

Did not read instructions closely, and used balena etcher as a starting point. Configured settings in Raspberry Pi Imager and now everything works again. Thanks!
