Usb drive not recognised
#1
Hi
I have just reinstalled Moode on my raspberry pi 4. This is in an Argon one case with the Argon NVME ssd built in. Before I reinstalled it it worked flawlessly but now does not recognise the 1Tb drive. I have had a lot of problems reinstalling this, with the 64 bit system it would not show the Moode network at all, tried re downloading it and retrying but no success. Have managed to install the 32 bit system ok but this doesn’t see the usb drive. Can anyone help please.

Have you read and followed the most recent set-up guide that has changes to the way the the o/s is configured when preparing the sd-card ?
https://github.com/moode-player/moode/bl.../setup.txt

For improved security the OS image does not contain the userid pi, SSH service,
WiFi SSID or Access Point password.

- Use the official Raspberry Pi Imager to choose a moOde OS image, enable SSH,
create a userid and password and optionally a WiFi SSID and password.

Hi
Yes I followed those instructions and in the past have had no problems with installation. The 32 bit system installs ok and can be got up and running but cannot see the usb drive connected via usb3 socket. The 64 bit system will not install for some reason as it fails to show a Moode Wi-Fi signal so cannot continue with installation. Have tried using the Moode files from Raspberry pi imager and downloaded them from the Moode site. Still no joy.

What exactly do you mean with "fails to show" and "cannot continue"? As far as I know there is no need of a network connection, apart from one for downloading the image... and that is on your computer.

When you say "...it would not show the Moode network at all..." do you mean the built-in Access Point network named Moode?

If that's the case then please re-read the Setup guide . It explains what is required to setup the password for the Access Point.

If it was working flawlessly, why did you reinstall? What else changed besides performing the reinstall itself?

There's nothing special about the Argon case as far as moOde is concerned.

As it happens I have an RPi4B in an Argon One V.2 case with an 1TB NVME SSD Drive connected via an external USB3.0-NVME adapter (as opposed to via the USB3.0 bridge in the Argon One M.2 case).

All 64bit moOde revs from 7.something to 8.3.3 have installed and run "flawlessly" on it. If I find time I can try the 32bit "legacy" moOde just to be sure, but I don't expect anything suspicious would occur.

I suppose if all else fails you could clear the system logs, reboot, and then post the contents of /var/log/syslog and /var/log/kern.log (as attachments, please) so we could look for obvious problems.

Regards,
Kent

PS - I usually keep on hand a uSD card with straight Raspberry Pi OS installed on it that I use for forensic purposes.

The Argon case with built in SSD does not Support nvme drive, only b or b+m key types.

@Johnn18

I should have mentioned in the above that moOde is installed on a uSD card, not on the SSD.

In this regard, you might want to peruse a previous thread Booting from NVMe Drive (in Argon40 case)
