The answer is still no, just as it was when you asked in February in the thread How about Tidal Connect? Honestly, while we wait for a Tidal Connect Open source, Moode Audio, as a streamer, is losing relevance to other alternatives.

Far from losing relevance, I'd say it is becoming more relevant as Tidal Connect gets built into more and more streamers. I don't want Tidal, I don't believe their spin, I certainly don't want to pay them anything. Where would I go for a streamer if they ALL have Tidal Connect/MQA and the big old licensing fees built in?

For you maybe but not for all our other users. In fact moOde today with it's extensive Audiophile feature set, elegant WebUI, rock solid stability and top notch support is more popular than ever, plus it's Open Source, DIY focussed and totally free :-) If you want access to Music Services go with one of the nice Chinese streamer boxes for example WiiM, Eversolo, etc. These companies make decent hardware and software, and are able to offer access to all the major Music Services because they are mass market manufacturers that can amortize the licensing costs over hundreds of thousands or millions of units sold. There is a lot of discussion around these products at ASR https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum...eamers.14/ If you want free player software that (I think) has access to Tidal Music Service then maybe try something like LMS/Squeezelite or PicorePlayer. Their projects have solid reputations for making and supporting excellent quality audio software.

As mentioned previously, you should direct your commentary for this at TIDAL themselves, as only they can choose to make the Connect feature available as free/open source. Other than that, why not just use an excellent TIDAL-compatible Control Point app such as BubbleUPnP in the meantime? No, that's not TIDAL Connect, but so what? Still better, dump TIDAL and switch to Qobuz… oops, no Qobuz Connect either. Still worth switching that one in my opinion, at least until such time as TIDAL have fully exorcised the ghost of MQA.

.....and no Apple Connect either!
Hopefully Spotify will get round to launching a lossless product soon, which may satisfy those longing for a lossless streaming server on Moode?

I guess I sort of understand the desire for lossless streaming (regardless of which service), but I don't have a huge desire for it myself.
For me, streaming music is primarily used for exploration and for background music. I find 320kbps Ogg Vorbis to per perfectly acceptable for these purposes. When I discover something I really like, I acquire it and it goes into my extensive offline library of lossless music, which is what I use for "active listening". I can't imagine having that library tied to a paid service and dependent on an Internet connection to function. |
