Possible to use Logitech Squeezebox on moodeaudio?
#1
I'll apologize in advance for my laziness. I've made only a cursory look around the forums to try to answer this question.

I'm a longtime very happy moodeaudio user (Thank you, Tim!), but my setups are simple: a raspberry pi connected to an amplifier. moode seems to  be able to so much more. I guess I'm just too easily satisfied!

A friend of mine uses an internet radio called a Squeezebox. He was just informed by Logitech that they are shutting down their server, so he will have to run his own. https://lms-community.github.io/

I set up moodeaudio for him a while ago on his hifi. He likes it.  I was wondering, is there is any hope of using the Squeezebox as a client of his moode system (Is that stupid? Is moode audio not in any way a server? ) , rather than running the Squeezebox server separately?

Thanks in advance!

moOde includes Squeezelite as one of the renderer options renderer but not LMS.
LMS is a music server and as such would be redundant to moOde's own music server MPD.

Thank you very much, Tim!

Sorry to be so stupid. Does this imply that my friend's device will work with moOde if I, er, aim it at MPD...somehow? Or is it compatible with LMS only?

I know this isn't a support forum for Logitech, so only hoping, not expecting, you or others know the answer.

The Squeezebox device is only compatible with LMS. It can't talk to moOde.

ETA:
LMS should be relatively easy to install on your friends PC or Mac computer. The downloads are here https://www.mysqueezebox.com/download

I'm away from home and on my phone, so in brief:

It took me only 15 minutes to read about, bring up, and start using LMS  on my Linux laptop when I wanted to test moOde's renderer.

I'm running LMS through PiCorePlayer on a Pi3B connected to a switch through the ethernet port. It works great. It's much more reliable than the version for my QNAP NAS. I don't use the LMS renderer mode on Moode because the MPD/SMB source works well for me. I've tried it and it doesn't have any features I need. I think some people would find it useful if a particular LMS app or plugin provided something not available in Moode.
