Details:
Raspberry Pi 3B.
Waveshare 4.3inch IPS screen with DSI interface.
Extruded aluminium Project Box, 80×160×170mm.
Using USB Audio output to keep things simple. Connected to a Cambridge Audio CXA61 amp with USB input.
USB Stick has my CD files ripped to FLAC using dbpoweramp.

The push switch is power on/off. The extra circuitry is added to allow the power switch to shut down the Pi before turning off the 5V supply. This makes use of the gpio-poweroff and gpio-shutdown functions.

I was pleased to find that the Waveshare LCD works with moOde with no extra configuration required. Even down to the Backlight control from the moOde GUI. I disabled the touchscreen as I just want a "now playing" display.

A big thanks to the moOde team and also to the forum users - there is a lot of useful info on these boards!

Looks super cool :-)
What model Waveshare screen? Some users report tons of config.txt settings needed to get these panels working.

I've been doing a PoC on a similar project and I'm also using a Waveshare DSI display, 4.3inch DSI QLED. With the 9.x series, I've required zero changes to get everything working.  Even the timeout turns off the backlight now, unlike 8.3.x, where I had to do some hacking on the display definition in config.txt to get the backlight to shutdown.

Trick is having a template, glued/taped on paper pattern, and cutting within the lines. Close enough to minimise further sanding/finishing but not so close as to overstep.
I learned how to use the Saw many years ago in silversmithing classes. There must be some muscle-memory at work because it doesn't get much use these days.

The good thing about a Jeweller's Saw is that when you find yourself deviating from the line it is easy to correct it, unlike a Hacksaw which will just carry on along the wrong path.

I'm still on 8.3.9.
I hadn't thought about turning the Backlight off with the timeout. Sounds like a good idea so will have to get round to trying 9.x.x.

I think the 4.3inch screen is a good size for an album art display. The box ends up a similar height to the Amplifier it sits next to, and I can see what's playing from the sofa without having to start up the Tablet. Useful when it is randomly working through the music collection and I think "what on earth is that"!

My previous build used a 1.3inch OLED display. I had to put on my glasses or sit right next to it to read the text on that one.
