Hi there, this is my first Post
My name is Andre and i am from Germany.
At the moment I only have one Raspberry Pi 1B (without +).
Which is the last version that I can install on it?
And is the RPI 3B + supported in the latest Version 7 ?
I've tried the current version 7, but the Pi won't boot.
Many Thanks
Andre

Hi,
thanks,
I did a little more research and I am now of the opinion that it is better to buy a Raspberry 3 or 4.
Especially to use Spotify if necessary.

I use a rpi3A+ and i am satisfied. For moode with spotify def. enough.
In the end depends on your use scenario.Small rpi4 has of course more power.

IMO the RPi3 Model A+ is in the sweet spot of the Raspberry Pi offerings.
With 4 ARMv8 CPUs, it's powerful enough for virtually anything I throw at it on moOde 7.0.1. At the same time it's smaller than and generates much less heat than an RPi4 Model B, and costs rather less as well. Compared to it, the RPi Zero W is a wimp with its single ARMv6 CPI.
There's an RPi3A+ sitting in front of me as I type, driving the USB-BT/aptX adapter which feeds my Sennheiser headphones.
It's not a great choice for building moOde from scratch, however, because it has only 0.5GB RAM. For that I reach for an RPi4B, eitiher 2GB or 4GB, which builds fast enough that I don't feel the need to set up cross-compiles on a separate Intel Linux box. (OTOH, to build Raspberry Pi OS, I do cross compiles on my big iron.)
YMMV.

Kent

Hi,
I am facing the same problem, that the latest version 7.0.1 is not running properly with my raspberry pi 1B.
It will start up, but no access via network (will not get an IP by DHCP). I tried the same with an RPI 3 and it worked fine...
Is there a version for this "old" RPI?
thx, acs999

There's only one version compiled to run on both ARMv6 and ARMv7/8 instruction sets.
I know moOde 7.0.1 runs on a 512MB Raspberry Pi Zero W with full network functionality via either the onboard WiFi or a USB-Ethernet adapter. This is an ARMv6 model so I don't believe the problem is your CPU.
How about the amount of RAM on your board? I should think the original 256MB RPi1 B is too memory limited to be useful.

Unfortunately you are right. I tried the earliest moode images available (4.3) with no success.
So the rpi 1B is definitely not able to run moode.
Would be great if this can be shown in the setup instructions and/or requirements to run moOde player.
thx,
Andreas

Our in-development version 7.1.0 works on my end on a Pi-1B w/Edimax 7811un WiFi adapter although quite slow performance due to the old, under powered single core arm6 CPU. There are no OS or kernel diffs between 7.1.0 dev and current production release 7.0.1 so no reason to believe that 7.0.1 won't work as well.
Here's a Moode log.

Maybe you have some external factors that are preventing it from booting on your 1B?

I found the problem. For somehow, the ethernet port is damaged. I tried to run the former players (Volumio and musicbox) and had similar problems.
I have no WiFi adapter available, so i cannot test the configuration.
Anyway, thank you for the quick replies and i will take an actual rpi to run moode. The handling is much easier.

Andreas
