Lol, try moOde 8. Maybe the new kernel will help with your Rotel.
Enjoy the Music!

Ok @TheOldPresbyope gave me food for thought and @Tim Curtis made moOde 8.0. So I gave a free shot to Volumio and the new MoOde.
I have flushed the latest Volumio put to rp4 some setting (I must say I like the interface and how smooth it worked) test sound and ... nothing. Quick jump to Volumio forum, some digging and I changed USB mode in Rotel form 2.0. to 1.0 (only 96kHz sampling max), play again and Halleluja is working like a charm. So starting Volumio took me 1hr.

Now time to MoOde.
I flashed MoOde 8.0, inserted the card and started it. Jump to the web browser. Some settings (quite a lot more confusing still but it gives a lot of more tweaks options). As my music is on NAS with samba, I can say Volumio find it easier, did not complain that userid was empty as it enters as quest probably. Anyway updated library start play ACDC and silence..., however volume is to zero! so cranked it up and .... Halluja, it is working!!!!!

So after whole journey week journey I reckon I will stick with MoOde, finally. Stupid ROTEL DAC on Linux is limited to 96kHZ but for time being I will live with it. My whole CD are 44.1kHz anyway. I have changed from plughw to direct hw mode and it is both working, I can't say if sounds different. I am leaving now as it is and enjoy music for some time. I do not think I can tweak something more but people are so into CamillaDSD so what is with maybe to have a look.
