Solved: Update to 8.2.2: Moode not available but SSH doing fine
#1
Hi,

update to 8.2.2. done without issue but after reboot Moode was not available via web interface or UPnP. This seems to be a singular issue. Will be fine to do a new install, but maybe it's worth the effort to figure out what went wrong. Some logs ... please let me know which additional information might tbe helpful. Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I updated from 8.2.1 to 8.2.2
and the Web gui was after reboot not available
via typing moode.local into the browser.
Did a second reboot to check if it's a one time issue, but it is not (it seems to be permanent).
SSH connection works and shows moode up and running.
After figuring out the IP, entering the IP in the browser brings the GUI back, however moode.local doesn't work any longer for me.
Is this the same behaviour as you spotted?

EDIT :
After another reboot it now works via moode.local again, so it wasn't permanent.

The startup log abruptly ends just before the Bluetooth section. This suggests Bluetooth is ON but no adapter is present.

Here's the help from Bluetooth renderer ON/OFF.
Code:
"WARNING: A Bluetooth adapter must be physically attached and enabled before turning Bluetooth ON otherwise moOde startup will fail and the system will appear to hang. If this happens run the SSH command moodeutl --btreset then reboot."

@Gromit
Thanks for your suggestion. Didn't help in this case. See below.

@Tim Curtis
Jep, thanks, this was the problem. Can't recall everything but I was playing around with bluetooth only recently. Obviously, I screwed up the settings. Reseting bluetooth did the trick.

@Tim Curtis I just also runned into this problem:
  • Didn't not use bluetooth
  • Disabled integrated bluetooth adapter in the system menu
  • Reboot
  • No moode ui after (`moodeutl -l` was also hanging at show bluetooth feature in worker.php)
[pi4 / m8.2.2 / k 5.15.61]

My workarround was disabling bluetooth feature to allow moode correct:
Code:
moodeutl -A rm 16384

Can it be that there is some unwanted condition that can be triggered?

Thats always a possibility. I'll investigate later today.

Did you have Bluetooth ON in Renderer Config?

Yep that is it  Smile

The condition:
Turn off the Integrated Bluetooth adapter in the system menu, while Bluetooth was on in the rendering menu.

The result:
moode will not boot anymore (hang at startup).
No way the resolve the issue from the gui, because it isn't running.

Workarround:
Use a ssh session (not the web one, that isn't available) to disable the bluetooth feature.
After restart with `moodeutl -r` you can disable the Bluetooth render. and enable the bluetooth feature again.

Yes, it's a nasty situation. I've identified the command that endlessly waits during Bluetooth startup when no adapter is present and so I should be able to simply test the return status of an upstream command and avoid continuing the startup.
