What control point (Linn Kazoo, Lumin, etc) are you using?

I believe Volumio includes some kind of DLNA indexing service, so it has some of the functionality of a DLNA "control point".
There's no comparable capability in moOde, which is strictly a DLNA "renderer".
Google is your friend regarding what UPnP/DLNA are and what the key functionalities are.

Assuming that the "MP3" disk attached to your TV box is a USB, the simplest way round this would be to plug the MP3 USB into your Pi where moOde can use it as its library directly. Then you turn on the DLNA filesharing in the System Config section of moOde, which makes the library available on the network in the same way as your TV box is currently doing. Voila, your music files are in moOde, and on the network via DLNA like before.
