[SOLVED] USB SSD not available in folder view with RPi Zero W

USB SSD is not visible in folder view. There is no USB device listed in folder view. RPi Zero W Moode 8.3.8 Sabent USB to SSD adapter (it looks like this) and Goldenfir 1TB SSD (also Kingston 240GB SSD).  devmon selected as USB auto-mount. The drive is mounted, and I can list all files on the drive with SSH (find /media/Goldenfir -type f) .

Solved: On the RPi Zero and Zero W, devmon is not functioning as expected, possibly due to an incompatibility with the Sabrent USB SSD adapter. Moode access of the USB SSD was ultimately successful. The same USB adapter and SSD drive worked without difficulty on a RPi3B and Zero 2W.

This cheap adapter worked for me with the Zero W (with a powered USB hub and 1TB Goldenfir SSD). It is identified as Other World Computing SATA External USB adapter PA023U3. It also works with the Zero 2W (it also requires a powered USB hub).

Whats the file system format (NTFF, Fat32, exFat, etc)?

IIRC Devmon does not support as many file system types as Udisks-glue. I don't think it supports nfs or exfat.

The Devmon configuration which is in a file named /etc/udevil/udevil.conf uses the variable KNOWN_FILESYSTEMS to determine which file systems it can mount. KNOWN_FILESYSTEMS is populated from the following system directory:

So basically it looks like only ext2/3/4, vfat (fat32), and something called msdos which I think is fat16 or fat.

Unmounted and reformatted the SSD to vfat on the Zero W with SSH. No problems. The FAT32 volume is "healthy" in Windows. Still the same behavior in Moode. When the USB SSD drive is plugged in, the library update spinning wheel appears. Then after a bit "Reconnect" appears (as before). The USB SSD does not appear in folder view. Refresh doesn't help. The SSD is mounted with full access through SSH.

Try plugging it into > Pi 0 if you have one.

I should add that the reason for trying it in > Pi-0, which would use udisks-glue as the default auto-mounter, is to see whether the issue is in the devmon auto-mounter on the the 0.

I do have a Pi-0. Why is the drive accessible in RaspiOS, yet not seen in Moode?
