That's correct.
Nice, it seems moOde 9 (Bookworm) will be a very worthwhile update!
With support for RPi 5 as well, although I'm not missing any performance etc. with my two RPi 4 2GB....

Is it possible to provide a list of obsolete devices?
Seems to me that it will be handy for people who are still using such "obsolete" devices

I was wondering if you know if the new release got the patches that allow >16b data to be received over the HDMI?
Also, pulling out support for my old Buffalo II DAQ???? Yeah, I know I haven't run it in years, but I MIGHT WANT TO!!
Kidding aside, there were many DAQ's sold by Twisted Pair back when, might think of keeping that line...

Do you have a link to "patches that allow >16b data to be received over the HDMI" ?
The upcoming 9.0.0 release is currently at:
Code: RPiOS: 12.5 Bookworm 64-bit | Linux: 6.6.20 64-bit

As he said, it's just redundant to the generic i2s selections. These devices won't stop working.

@ nullstring there's a reasonably stable ~pre2 package in the repo if you want to try it out.
Code: 1. Boot a Bookworm Lite image
2. sudo apt update && apt list --upgradable
3. sudo apt -y upgrade
4. sudo reboot
5 Install links to Cloudsmith repo
curl -1sLf \
'https://dl.cloudsmith.io/public/moodeaudio/m8y/setup.deb.sh' \
| sudo -E distro=raspbian codename=bookworm bash
6. sudo apt -y install moode-player=9.0.0-1moode1~pre2
7. sudo reboot
After installing the package and rebooting, the system will auto-reboot again after importing the managed config.txt file.

Please pardon my ignorance (which seems to be getting worse since retiring from real engineering).
What does “r900 Named Device list” actually mean?

rNNN refers to part of a Git release tag that we use for example r900prod means Release 9.0.0 production". It's just nerd shorthand for release 9.0.0.
The "Named device list" refers to the list of I2S devices in Audio Config.
ETA: If a I2S device is not in the Named list then choose one of the two "Generic" selections if appropriate or whatever the device manufacturer recommends, either a specific DT overlay or one of the other Named devices.
