What does the STAR Symbol next to the HEART Symbol do?
#1
In the main window I do have in the bottom a STAR Symbol left to the HEART Symbol. I remember in older versions this was like choosing a random album/folder from the library and adding to the playlist. On my 3 moode setups (1x 9.0 and 2x 8.3.9) pressing the button is not doing anything.
Did I disable it by accident? Can't find any toggle to switch it on again.
Help
Thanks

Yes it selects a random album from the collection. It works ok on my end.

Opening the Browser javascript console and see if there are any errors when you click the button.

Tried with 3 moode players (8.3.9 & 9.0) pressing the star on android phone (FF & chrome) Linux Mint CPU (FF, Opera, Brave) and Windows 10 (edge).

only see this here in the FF console by pressing the star:

Empty string passed to getElementById(). 2 lib.min.js:22:1374

Very odd. I can't repro but if someone else is able to do so and provide some error info that I can use to trace the code I'll investigate.

Try clearing the Browser cache.

I just tried and failed to repro on a moOde 9.0.0. player (Pi5B/WiFi, library on OpenMediaVault NAS) using the following

- Google Pixel 6a (Android): Firefox, Chrome
- Apple iPad (iOS): Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera
- Linux Mint laptop: Firefox, Chrome

In all cases, clicking the star icon resulted in the player stepping from the current track to a track on some other, randomly selected album.

The only user-interface issue I noticed was that the switch in tracks was a little slow.

Kent

OK. I found the problem. When in PREFERENCES/LIBRARY/One-touche album is set to "No action" the STAR Function does not work. When set to "Show tracks" it works. Changed the setting accordingly and now it works on all my moode players!

I forgot that feature is tied to the one-touch setting. Here's from Quick help.

Code:
"Play a random album
Randomly select an album from the Music Library and perform the action specified for the "One touch action" setting. This setting is in the Playback section of Preferences."

Maybe One-touch-album = No action should default the button to performing "Add/play" instead of disabling it.

What do you think?

If I set it to "show tracks" it uses add/play.
So "no action" should also use add/play.
Nevertheless, perfect would be a separate setting that is not linked to the library one-touch album setting.
e.g. Setting: Shuffle (Star button) and than different options... add/play album, clear play album, add X random songs....

I like the idea of a separate option for the Random album button. I'll add to the TODO list
