I am using the latest version of moode 9.0.8 but unfortunately have had to downgrade to 8.3.9. When I listen mainly to BBC Radio One, the mood stops playing several times and I have to restart the playback. This never happens on 8.3.9, and then I use the same url to listen.

Have you turned on the monitor function? It will probably recover for you.

Monitor? Does that solve the problem?

I can confirm that I have spotted the same issue with moode 9.0.8 and BBC streams. Moode 8.3.9 doesn't have this issue.
However I have two moode installations with different hardware and only one has this issue very often.
On the other one, I had it either never or only once, I do not remember exactly. But basically this is stable and I use it very often.
Therefore it might be a hardware/driver related issue?
The one that has no issue or only once so far with moode 9.x is a raspberry pi 3 with an Allo Katana DAC.
The one that has the issue is a raspberry pi 3 with a Hifiberry DAC pro.
I noticed that the driver selection for the Hifiberry DAC looks different in moode 9.x compared to 8.3.9
Which hardware are you using?
On the one with Hifiberry DAC pro I had to downgrade to 8.3.9 and this is stable since.
While I had the 9.x installed on the Hifiberry one, I turned on the monitor function, but the behaviour changed then from just stopping to switching to another radio station (often a previous one I listened to ).

Moode is not APT upgrade safe. Running those commands can result in serious breakage for example an unintended kernel upgrade which will not contain our enhanced drivers, installation of an unreleased test version of moode, out of date radio station database and so on.
The file /etc/moode-apt-mark.conf contains a list of packages that are locked by default but there are commands that can be used to unlock them. Once this is done, breakage will almost certainly occur and the only remedy for this to install a fresh release image.

I just spent a few days listening to the cricket on BBC Sports Extra, never dropped once. I can't bring myself to listen to Radio 1 for any length of time. Are you listening to the high def streams from outside the UK perhaps?
