RABAS Technologies - Allo products
#1
Information
Hi,

A new company named RABAS Technologies was formed by a former Allo employee and has started manufacturing and selling the very nice Allo product line :-)

Visit https://rabas.in/

Some products show "out of stock" but are expected to be available at some point for example the Kali Reclocker is expected to be in stock in December 2024.

There are also new products in the pipeline according to the company.

Great news for all :-)

and when I tried to order an item...

STEPPED ATTENUATOR × 1 $29.00
Subtotal $29.00
Shipping Flat Shipping Charges (FedEx): $30.00

Really? Flat rate shipping to anywhere exceeds the item cost on a small package.?

Must be a newbie to building a website if they left in the filler material for whatever site-builder tool they're using.

On a lark, I fed that pig latin into my favorite search engine and the first hit it returned was to a "Where can I change the text for delivery and shipping?" post by someone with an email address in the Netherlands domain.

Wish the shipping fee weren't so dear. Fingers crossed it comes down before the Kali Reclocker is reintroduced.

Kent

I think it's actually from this 'lorem ipsum' generator: https://loremipsum.io/generator?n=50&t=p

Proobably. But if they know enough to use the generator I’d hope they know enough not to leave the filler text on the public-facing site.

My money is on there being a WordPress plugin involved somewhere :-)

Love a bit of Lorem Ipsum.

@TheOldPresbyope , are you considering a re-clocker? What benefit would I expect to hear from such a device?

Well, their website claims '...the music will "open up". The stage will sound bigger, more tri-dimensional. You will hear sounds, words, instruments that were drowned before in a sea of digital mud.'

I was cured of my audiophilia nervosa long ago but I'm still a curious soul. Who wants to wallow in digital mud?  Tongue

As it happens, I have come into possession of a protoDAC which seems the perfect test article. The rest of my DACs I use routinely are clock masters; the Kali wouldn't work with them.

The worst that can happen is I'm out the cost of a wine-and-dinner evening with my SO at a local restaurant (don't tell her that!) with nothing to show for it.

Kent

For my money ProtoDac experimenting with output capacitor value and matching to the input impedance of the following device (pre-amp or power-amp direct) made more difference/improvement than the addition of the Kali.
Once matching had been done the Kali does make a further improvement.
One of my ProtoDacs in Hat mode uses it, another has an Xmos and AKM4137 resampler for use with Pi and other sources but I find myself listening mostly to a Pi4 with plain ProtoDac HAT .

Well, I'll keep an eye on these RABAS products and maybe sample these esoteric delights myself shortly. I suspect I don't have the ears for it though.

I note that the new Rabas website only lists the 44/48 Mhz version of the Kali reclcoker, not the 22/24Mhz version required for multibit DACs like the TDA1387  used in the protoDAC.  Hopefully they will produce that version again too.
