In the playlist view, if I click on the three dots for the default playlist, select "Delete playlist", and then confirm the deletion, a dialog appears saying "Playlist has been deleted". However, the playlist is still there. Rather, I have to ssh in and remove the "/var/lib/mpd/playlists/Default Playlist.m3u.dpkg-dist" file.
This is using version 9.3.0, but I recall this being an issue with previous versions as well.

I had this on one of my players but I assumed it was some glitch I managed to introduce with restores and such like. It only affected the Default Playlist, and only once (as in once the file was deleted it never occurred again). Can you create and delete other playlists?

Yes, no problem creating/deleting other playlists. The problem only affects the default playlist.

I expect that now you have deleted the (possibly corrupted) playlist file from the file system, you will not have any more bother with this.

Thanks. That's correct for now, but I've had to do this several times in the past. Perhaps certain updates bring the default playlist back?

Unfortunately, I don't know. We can close this for now, and if it happens again I'll revisit with more details.

Do you restore from backup? Maybe something nasty in the backup file?

I've this every time the update fails. Manually deleting the playlist in the playlist folder afterwards, fixed it.

I had a poke about in the backups for for the player I had with the issue, and sure enough there was an erroneous file in the playlists folder in the backup zip.
I've created a fresh backup file without the stray default playlist in it.
