As far as I know MPD does not directly support Podcast subscriptions as a Playlist element. You probably need to use an external app that parses the Podcast XML and creates a .m3u or .pls Playlist file for MPD. See links below.

I use podget on my Moode player pi to download podcasts to my NAS. Works a treat.
An interface to be podget would be ace.
Maybe I'm missing something, but I've tried to use podget also to download podcast to my NAS, but I'm getting "permission denied" message... Could someone help to me? Thank you in advance!!
Make sure you're mounting your NAS in Moode with rw permissions
