Once I started using SanDisk Ultras, I've had 100% success even with lots of plugging and unplugging, flashing and reflashing, and generally abusing them. They work great and inexpensive. Do be sure you get them from a reputable source. There's lots of fake cards being sold online.
As always, a good power supply with adequate gauge wire and undamaged microUSB or USB-C connector is a must.
Cold solder joints---brrrr---what a nightmare.
