For sure factoring the UI for a small HDMI attached display, moving things around, changing what's displayed etc is a significant development effort.
If you can make the case that its generally applicable for example like the Pi 7" Touch then it would be more likely to happen otherwise it would take another dev thats willing to volunteer their time to work with you on your customizations.
