Open MPD config and click the Audio output dropdown. If Linux/ALSA was able to successfully configure the device there will be a selection named "USB audio device" in addition to "On-board audio device". Just select it and then APPLY.
That is what I thought. Drop does not display USB audio device as an option just on board audio device. I will contact MiniDSP to see if they have any suggestions.
If I find my HA-DSP will not work with Linux have any suggestions on a HAT's that might allow me to listen to headphones. Audiophonics has one called
