Thanks.... Woke up today powered up the HA-DSP with the Pi3 and all the problems reappeared.  As soon as I power on a sporadic hissing can be heard in the headphone. I need to do more testing and this time record the sequence of events.

Also I confirmed last night by doing an volumio install that in fact straight out of the box volumio recognized specifically that an ha-dsp usb device was attached. I could not detect any SQ difference between either app. I did not encounter any setup issues.
