My partner and I are at odds on the subject of hi fi. We have had systems before but the eternal muttering about the deck, cd player, amp, speakers, stands etc looking out of place wears me down.
I agreed that in our new home, we would just have a radio on the sideboard in our second living room. I bought a non working Pure Evoke DAB radio for £21 from the UK version of ebay. The virtue of that particular radio is that it comes with a satellite speaker.
Simply unscrewed the back and inserted a Pi W with a Justboom AMP Hat (Zero) and a 250gb USB stick.
Looks like a radio but has all the flexibility of MoOde and the sound is fine.

Now that a precedent has been set, I am monitoring ebay for a cheap pair of Ruark MR1 speakers in soft grey. Those speakers are highly rated https://www.ruarkaudio.com/products/mr1-...ker-system
