Also my version of Moode on a Pi-3B v1.2 could not find the music files on the USB stick at first.
The solution for me was the following;
By default, the USBmounter option is set to Udisks-glue (Default), which I set to Demon and saved it.
After a Restart, the USB-mounter option reverted to Udisk-glue and Save.
The USB could now be seen in the folder view and after a Update library the music files could be accessed.
