Sounds like broken hardware. Can't explain why PiCorePlayer is working on it but it's entirely different software that perhaps exercises the hardware differently enough to not cause the problem.
Perhaps there's something interesting in /var/log/syslog et al.
Do you have the legit pi4 psu? It's a power hungry beast and I had to buy it to keep my system stable.
Are you trying this with nothing plugged in (DAC etc)?
Maybe try with your router(s) switched off so there's no potentially screwy DHCP servers to mess things up (and scan for it with Fing).
With PiCorePlayer, what works - ethernet or wifi? What's the mac/ip address you're using there? Are they sensible?
The Pi4 has firmware - separate from kernel/linux/etc software, I think - it's not clear to me. Possibly you have an old/early Pi4 with old firmware? Perhaps updating that with some other os is worth a shot? https://www.raspberrypi.com/documentatio...rpi-update
